In auto racing, the front wheels of the automobile are set slightly lower than the rear. This difference between the front and rear wheel height is called the "rake". Because the wheel heights are different, the automobile's chassis is not dead level with the ground. The angle by which it deviates from dead level is called the "rake angle".
